Hop-In Bierwinkel La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch 36
La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch 36 - BA Quadrupel / 11% vol / 37.5 cl. The Batch Register about Batch 36: For this edition, only French cognac barriques were used on which the Quadrupel has matured for more than a year and a half. Cognac is a type of brandy from France, made in the departments of Charente and Charante-Maritime. Cognac is prepared under strictly protected conditions. For example, cognac is distilled twice in so-called copper 'Pot Stills' and must then mature for at least two years in barriques, traditionally made from French Limousin or Tonçais oak. To maximize the special scent and taste of the cognac, 100 percent cognac Limousin barriques were used for this batch. Batch 36 presents itself with a finely pearled foam head. The color is a lot darker than the normal Quadrupel. The scent immediately reveals a very subtle and refined cognac note with grapes, dried fruit, almond and nutmeg. The taste can be described as warm and velvety soft. The bitterness is lower than with the normal Quadrupel and has been pushed more into the background. The undertone of the beer is pleasantly sweet, especially due to the high alcohol content, which has risen to almost 12 percent. The malty caramel and ester notes return in the aftertaste, together with the oak and of course the cognac. This batch of Quadrupel Oak Aged can be called unique in several respects. Batch 36 was blended in August 2019. Untappd 4.4

Hop-In Bierwinkel La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch 22
La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch 22 - BA Quadrupel / 11% vol / 37.5 cl. The Batch Register about Batch 22: Oak Aged Batch 22 is largely matured in German Single Malt barrels. This whiskey is considerably softer and less 'peated' than its Scottish counterparts, making batch 22 much smoother than previous batches matured in whiskey barrels. In addition to the malty and smoked scent, banana, vanilla, honey, apple and blossom scents can also be distinguished. The whiskey is clear but not overpowering, so the La Trappe Quadrupel remains clearly recognizable. This results in a harmonious blend of flavors, releasing aromas of almond and smoke. Batch 22 is full of flavor and very complex; with every sip new taste associations seem to emerge. The alcohol is clearly present in the aftertaste together with the bitterness of wood tannin, which lingers for some time. This batch may not be the most extreme batch, but its complexity and harmonious overall taste make it highly recommended. This batch was blended in October 2015. Untappd 4.38

Hop-In Bierwinkel La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch 23
La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch 23 - BA Quadrupel / 11% vol / 37.5 cl. The Batch Register about Batch 23: Exactly 3 years ago, Oak Aged first came onto the market with the famous Spätburgunder. This 2nd version with the famous German red wine is noticeably different. The wine aromas of this Pinot Noir are easily recognizable in both the smell and the taste. In addition, note: sweet apple, banana and date. The entire taste association results in a spicy effect. The fairly strong carbonization provides a stimulating smell and taste. The taste has many wood tannins and is slightly sweet due to this red wine, tending to port. This flavor remains for a long time and slowly turns into a red wine-like aftertaste that lingers. With a small hint of tobacco, this batch 23 by the famous Quadrupel is beery and full. The alcohol remains well in the background, although the 11% of the Quadrupel has been retained. This Oak Aged comes into its own when it is served at a temp. from 16-18°C. This batch was blended in December 2015. Untappd 4.31

Hop-In Bierwinkel La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch 24
La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch 24 - BA Quadrupel / 11% vol / 37.5 cl. The Batch Register about Batch 24: Batch 24 presents itself in the normal amber brown Quadrupel color and has a fairly fragile head. Cherries immediately predominate in the scent and the comparison is drawn to many sweet-ripe fruits. In addition to cherries, hints of mango, banana and strawberry emerge. The scents of almond and vanilla are also recognizable as those of alcohol, caramel malt and oak. The taste is full to even bombastic, warming and challenging and is dominated by cherries. Then comes the flavors of vanilla and caramel-sweet and ends in a dry tannic bitter alcoholic aftertaste. The 'cherry touch' complements the Quadrupel flavor well, making this batch clearly different from all previous 23 batches. The special components make batch 24 highly recommended for enthusiasts. This batch was blended in May 2016. Untappd 4.39

Hop-In Bierwinkel La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch 25
La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch 25 - BA Quadrupel / 11% vol / 37.5 cl. The Batch register about Batch 25: A symbolic special batch; the 25 th Oak Aged batch during the 25th anniversary of La Trappe Quadrupel. The head of this clear amber-brown beer, like that of batch 24, remains fragile, so that it rests on the beer like a thin silk blanket. The scent of vanilla, followed by that of almond, honey, caramel, oak and malt are emphasized by this. A fresh scent, reminiscent of white wine (floral and slightly acidic), clearly predominates. The first taste clearly gives the impression of La Trappe Quadrupel, after which the fresh and fruity wine aromas clearly follow, and pass into an alcoholic warming aftertaste. This aftertaste is additionally colored by the aromas of the Kirsch, with a hint of cherries. The oak wood is also clearly but modestly present in the aftertaste, giving the beer a slightly smoky character. Although the carbonation is quite low, it fits well with her desirable serving temperature of 16°-18°. This is how the aromas of this particularly soft and delicate beer come into their own. This batch was blended in August 2016. Untappd 4.37
