Schloss Eggenberg, or Castle Eggenberg, is Austria's oldest family brewery, dating back to the year 999. Beer was then brewed only for the local population. Commercial brewing began in 1681. Today the brewery has a capacity of 160,000 Hl per year. In addition to the 'regular' beers, a series of special editions are also brewed, which are brewed according to the Rheinheitsgebot of 1516.
