Germany is known as a conservative beer-drinking country. They are proud of their own beers, of which the most famous beer styles are the Weizen and the Lager. Certainly the vast majority of beer consumed domestically belongs to the lager style. There is a lot of diversity within this, such as Dunkel, Marzen, etc. Modern American beer styles, such as the IPA and the stout, are not widely brewed yet, but there are certainly a few very good German breweries that specialize in IPAs. Names such as Fuerst Wiacek and Frau Gruber have been well known for a number of years, and now Yankee & Kraut, Atelier der Braukunste, Blech.Brut and Sudden Death are added.
